Medium and high voltage power cable is one of the most important parts in power systems. They are exploited to distribute electrical energy between power plants, substations, factories and residential area. The premier quality and reliability of the cables are necessary in order to prevent the outage of electricity supply occurring from the failure of the cable.
Phelps Dodge International (Thailand) Ltd. is the leader in medium and high voltage power cable, with the experiences in manufacturing cables more than 40 years. We have state of the art facilities that can produce the high voltage underground cable with the rated voltage up to 245 kV. The cables have been vigilantly designed to exceed international standards such as IEC, ICEA, UL, DIN, VDE, AS/NZS, TIS, IS and other standards specified by customers. Materials used for manufacturing cables have been thoroughly selected with stringent quality control system so as to ensure the high quality of the cable.
One important part of high voltage power cable is its insulation. In order to isolate the conductor from ground and other conductors, materials with the best electrical and physical properties must be chosen. Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), since its development in 1950s, became the material of choice for insulating power cable, because of its superior electrical property, low dielectric loss angle and ease of installation and maintenance when comparing to conventional oil-filled cable and impregnated paper insulated cable.
